No Smoking in Hospitals

The Trust operates a no smoking policy and wishes to advise all visitors that smoking is not permitted inside any of the Trust's buildings or on the hospital grounds.

We take the cleanliness of our hospital very seriously indeed and enforce a number of policies to keep it clean and well presented for patients, visitors and staff. Queen Alexandra Hospital is a non-smoking site and all staff, as well as all members of the management team are urged to challenge anyone who is seen smoking in the hospital grounds to move off site. Furthermore there are many ‘no smoking’ signs which are clearly visible around the hospital and there is also an automated message outside the Emergency Department advising patients and visitors that the hospital is a non-smoking site.

We must rely on our patients and visitors to respect our hospital and adhere to the policies and rules we put in place. Everybody who comes on site has a responsibility to adhere to our no smoking policy, by smoking off site away from the hospital and disposing of their rubbish in the right way. We are very proud of our hospital and all members of staff are working hard to keep it clean for our patients and visitors and I hope those who do smoke will help us by going off site or using the allocated smoking shelters to keep the hospital smoke and litter-free.

Can I use an e-cigarette or vape?

The Trust has a positive approach to people who use e-cigarettes or vapes instead of cigarettes. As a result vaping or the use of e-cigarettes is allowed across the outdoor spaces of our site. It is not allowed inside any of the buildings.
