Volunteer for Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust

We continue to be immensely grateful to the 800 men and women, of all ages and backgrounds, who give their time so selflessly to provide non-clinical support to our patients, staff and visitors. Their contribution supports and enhances the services of the hospital.

The Trust welcomes volunteers from the age of 16 upward and we believe that everyone has something to give, regardless of how much time is given. There has been a significant increase in the number of younger people who are giving their time to help others in our hospitals. Often volunteering is a useful way to gain experience of a particular job, with a view to future career choices.

Some of the roles volunteers are involved in include:

  • Helping on the wards and in clinics
  • Clerical helpers
  • Running shops and cafes
  • Patient Library Service
  • Hospital Radio
  • Hospital guides
